STEM CELL THERAPY
Stem cell therapy is a minimally-invasive, out-patient procedure where your own adult stem cells are harvested and injected into damaged structures to potentially restore structure and function, and minimize pain.
Stem cells are specialized cells that naturally grow in our body and can differentiate into bone, cartilage or fat cells. They are widely used in medicine as a natural healing solution to effectively treat orthopedic conditions including the spine and major joints.
The human body has multiple sites where stem cells can be found. Stem cells can be harvested from the hip bone (iliac bone) easily within minutes. After the stem cells are obtained, they can be used for immediate outpatient treatment of the affected area.
Stem cell injections are performed using imaging guidance (i.e. ultrasound or fluoroscopy) to ensure accurate placement of the stem cells. Once the affected area is sterilized and anesthetized, the stem cells are injected and begin regenerating and strengthening weakened tissues.
